Ms. Henderson joined Hickory Ridge Middle School as an assistant principal in 2021. Prior to joining our administrative team, Ms. Henderson served as Director of Continuous Improvement for the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE). Throughout her tenure with NYC DOE, Deandra served as a teacher development and evaluation coach and as a universal literacy reading coach. 

Ms. Henderson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass. Communications and two Master degrees of Science in Education and School Building Leadership from the City University of New York.  She loves the special energy that is present at Hickory Ridge, and she approaches continued growth and strong instructional practices with enthusiasm. 

She loves to cook, shop, travel and spend time with her family and always be at the seat of learning something new. 

She looks forward to building meaningful quality relationships with all students within the Maverick Family!
