Databases for Research

If you’re looking for quality resources for research, databases are a great place to start!

There are databases for all kinds of things. Here are our recommendations:

  • EBSCO Explora and Britannica School (also available in Spanish as Britannica Escolar) for anything
  • NCpedia and NC Digital Heritage Center for North Carolina resources
  • Ebooks from EBSCO and NCKIDS Digital Library for ebooks

Databases like for you to use keyword searches, and websites are good at natural language searches.

  • Keyword searches like individual words, not sentences. Searches look like “literature AND Shakespeare AND influence”
  • Natural Language searches like sentences or questions. Searches look like “how does Shakespeare influence literature today”
