Useful tips to get your first week off to a great start:

✅SCHOOL START TIMES: Please visit our Bell Schedules webpage for information on school start and dismissal times.

✅TRANSPORTATION: The first several days of school are a busy time for transportation as thousands of students settle into their new routines. Bus routes and arrival times may take a little longer than usual during the first 10 days as drivers learn new stops, students become familiar with their buses, and traffic patterns adjust. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as our Transportation team works to provide safe, reliable service for our students and fine tunes routes and service delivery during the opening weeks of the school year. Please continue to check your transportation information and allow at least ten extra minutes for pickup and dropoff at bus stops during these opening days. Thank you for working with us to help get the school year off to a safe and successful start!

✅SCHOOL NUTRITION: Please use linqconnect.com or the Linq Connect app to deposit meal money into your student's account prior to the first day of school. You may also apply for Free & Reduced Meals if you have not done so already.

✅SCHOOL HEALTH: Will your child be taking medication at school? Visit the CHA School Health page to download necessary forms.

✅VISIT OUR BACK-TO-SCHOOL HUB: Looking for calendars, enrollment information, meal information, transportation, school supplies, Open House schedules, and more? You'll find everything you need in one convenient place at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/backtoschool.

Parents can use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal app to track student attendance and to track grades for middle and high school students. This is available on Apple or Android devices, or simply via the web once you have connected with your child's account.

This document includes links to those apps, and also outlines the steps necessary to connect to your child's account. The process relies on parent contact information being up-to-date, so please reach out to your school if your contact information has changed.

Cabarrus County Schools has updated our School Safety webpage to make important safety information and resources easier for families to find. The page includes information about school safety, emergency preparedness, our See Something, Say Something reporting resources, and other ways we work together to support safe schools.

We encourage families to take a few minutes to explore the page, talk with students about the importance of reporting safety concerns, and become familiar with the resources available.

✅KINDERGARTEN STAGGERED START:

We are so excited to welcome our kindergarteners! All CCS elementary schools use staggered entry. Kindergarten staggered entry is a gradual school start where rising kindergarteners are split into small groups to attend just one designated day during the first few days of school before joining together for regular daily attendance. The CCS staggered entry window is August 12, 13, 14, and 17th. All CCS kindergarteners will report together on August 18th. If you are the parent of a rising kindergartener, you will hear your child’s staggered start date from your school by August 10th at the latest.

As we wrap up the school year, we want to help our rising seniors get a strong start on their postsecondary planning. One important step is participating in NC College Connect and creating a CFNC account this summer. Like homes and other public buildings, schools contain systems and materials that have expected useful lifespans. As buildings age, some maintenance needs go beyond routine cleaning and minor repairs.

Major building components eventually require significant repair or replacement. Depending on the type of system, materials, installation, use, and maintenance, roofs may require major replacement after approximately 20–30 years, while heating and cooling equipment often has a useful life of approximately 15–25 years. Parking lots, flooring, windows, plumbing, electrical equipment, and other building systems also require maintenance, rehabilitation, or replacement over time.

School facilities also experience significant daily use. Students and employees use classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, hallways, parking areas, athletic facilities, and other spaces throughout the school year. Building systems such as heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical equipment operate regularly to support school operations.

Routine maintenance can extend the useful life of many building components. Eventually, however, systems and materials reach the point when major repair or replacement is needed. Long-term facilities planning identifies these needs, estimates when they are likely to occur, and helps determine the scope and cost of future capital projects.

The proposed Cabarrus County Schools GO Bond will appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot.
