We are so excited you and your child are considering joining the band family in 6th grade. We truly believe that the positive experiences students will have in band will stick with them throughout their entire lives. Please note that at Hickory Ridge Middle School you should only join band in 6th grade. If you think you are interested in learning an instrument, 6th grade is the year to do it. They will LOVE it and so will you. However, there are a lot of things to consider before signing up for band, as it is not an easy A class. There are time and financial commitments to consider, and both will help your child succeed in learning an instrument.

Here are the steps to join the band:

1. Come out to our Instrument Selection Night in the spring. It will be a "drop in" event to help choose your student's instrument for next year! If that date does not work for your family please email our band directors to make arrangements for another day.

2. During registration, select Band as your first choice for Encore.

3. If you want a head start, sign up for our Beginning Band summer camp!
